Job Title: Accounts Receivable Specialist

Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our client to support accurate cash management and strengthen financial operations through effective payment application and reconciliation. This temporary opportunity is located in Knoxville, TN and requires onsite collaboration during normal business hours. The role focuses on maintaining the integrity of customer accounts, ensuring timely and precise cash posting, and helping resolve payment discrepancies that impact the organization’s financial reporting. This position also offers the chance to contribute to process improvements and system accuracy within a collaborative finance team.

Compensation:
$21 – $23/hour

Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, normal business hours

Key Responsibilities of the Accounts Receivable Specialist:

• Manage daily cash application activities by recording payments from various sources and ensuring transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger and customer accounts.
• Apply incoming payments to outstanding invoices while reviewing remittance details to confirm accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Investigate and resolve payment variances such as short payments, overpayments, unapplied cash, or deductions while coordinating with internal teams and customers as needed.
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies and audit requirements.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and contribute to month-end closing activities related to cash activity.
• Support ongoing improvements by helping maintain clean financial data, identifying process enhancements, and assisting with system-related updates or clean-up efforts.

Qualifications and Skills for the Accounts Receivable Specialist:

• 3–5+ years of experience in accounts receivable functions such as cash application, billing, collections, invoicing, or payment processing.
• Experience working within multi-entity environments and managing financial data across multiple accounts or business units.
• Familiarity with NetSuite is highly preferred; candidates with strong cash application experience may also be considered without system exposure.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize and analyze financial data effectively.
• Experience with CRM or financial systems such as Salesforce is beneficial but not required.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail when investigating payment discrepancies.
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Naturally curious and proactive, with a willingness to ask questions, identify improvements, and help refine processes.
