Legal Billing Manager (Hybrid)
We are looking for an experience Billing Manager to join our client for a hybrid role in San Francisco, CA! As the Billing Manager, your primary responsibility would be managing the overall operations of the Billing Department. This hybrid role is offering up a salary range of $113,580.00 - $181,728.00/year!
Responsibilities of the Billing Manager include:
- Managing the overall operations of the Billing Department; recommending and implementing operational and policy changes; providing leadership, direction and development opportunities for the billing department staff throughout the firm.
- Strategizes to determine which clients are handled on a national (cross practice group/office) basis versus at the local level.
- Ensures effective and efficient use of firm billing processes, procedures and systems.
- Develops new protocol for all billers firm wide to adapt to changing client billing needs.
- Provides ongoing coaching and training to all levels of billers on systems, processes and procedures.
- Provides quality control on complex billing issues.
- Provides support to Partners and Firm Management on financial issues.
- Travels as needed to offices to meet with staff, Partners, Directors of Administration and secretaries.
- Collaborates with Firm Collections, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to ensure relevant information is shared.
- Identifies and resolves problems.
- Ensures that all Partners, covered by the team, are properly supported.
- Coordinates with Elite Support on security matters and updates to the Elite System.
- Communicates billing services, policies and procedures to Partners, secretaries and staff
- On-Boards new Partners and secretaries.
- Works with the Business Operation Teams on reviewing UBT Inventory.
- Leads by example; establishes clear expectations; sets direction and priorities; ensures that work levels are balanced among all staff; resolves internal staff issues in a timely manner; keeps staff informed of all appropriate information; builds effective team; delegates at appropriate level.
- Facilitates the development of staff by providing opportunities and support; provides timely feedback on work product; regularly coaches, evaluates, and recognizes staff performance and accomplishments.
- Establishes/adheres to Department budget; seeks opportunities to improve Department efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.
- Directly supervises 3+ -supervisory employees. He/she carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications of the Billing Manager include:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, with 5+ years in a supervisory position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior Law firm experience is preferred.
- 3E experience would be a plus.
- Accounting software (Elite, Ebillinghub), Word, Excel, ChromeRiver and Outlook.
- Candidate must be local to the San Francisco office.
