Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement: Your primary responsibility will be to engage with our customers through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions, ensuring their satisfaction and striving for first-call resolution.

Compliance: Adhere to company and corporate guidelines, meeting performance goals set by the business unit, and maintaining a commitment to safety, WOW (World of Work), presentation, and results-oriented work.

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate the ability to navigate multiple computer programs, screens, and resources, with a strong emphasis on detailed and accurate documentation for each transaction.

Schedule Adherence: Work within a structured environment, adhering to a defined schedule, including headset use, scheduled breaks, and lunches.

Flexibility: Be prepared to work at multiple locations, which may involve occasional travel and extended hours, particularly during emergency situations, storm preparation, and restoration efforts.

Transaction Handling: Conduct various customer transactions, including meter and service order creation, payment processing, and maintaining accurate records in the billing system.

Customer Correspondence: Address customer concerns related to high bills, service activation/deactivation, deposits, and other ad hoc requests professionally and effectively.

Problem Solving: Research, identify, and resolve discrepancies, making necessary adjustments and corrections as required.

Cash Handling: In some instances, engage in cashiering and batch processing, ensuring precise reconciliation of funds and cash reports with a high degree of accuracy.

Community Engagement: Participate in Chesapeake Utilities Cares programs and support community grassroots efforts.

Collections: Assist in the collection and disconnection process as directed by company rules and regulations.

Interdepartmental Collaboration: Foster positive working relationships with other department contacts and external organizations.

Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other duties assigned by your Supervisor within the scope of the business unit job.
Qualifications:

Preferably, you have a minimum of 2 years of clerical or customer service experience, with a focus on call center operations.

You possess excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring effective interaction with customers.

Being bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus.

You have experience handling cash transactions.

Demonstrated math aptitude, collection techniques, and some account knowledge.

Strong computer skills are preferred, including familiarity with MS Office and other call center technologies.

Proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Previous experience in call center customer service, handling product inquiries and billing concerns.

You are comfortable with both telephone and face-to-face customer interactions within a structured environment.
