Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Senior Sales Tax Accountant to join our client for a hybrid opportunity (you may be located near one of the following: Sarasota, FL, Cleveland, OH, or Shawnee, KS)! In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with multistate and Canadian indirect tax regulations, contributing significantly to the efficiency of our tax processes. This Direct-Hire opportunity offers an annual salary of $87,000-$97,000/year!

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dive into the intricacies of multistate sales and use tax returns, ensuring each review is thorough and accurate.
  • Take the lead in reviewing Canadian GST returns, adding an international perspective to your tax expertise.
  • Manage and maintain our indirect tax return calendar, ensuring all filings are completed on time.
  • Review monthly tax account reconciliations and reporting in Blackline, contributing to clear and concise financial records.
  • Collaborate with the business to assess the taxability of new products and assign appropriate tax categories.
  • Stay on top of nexus reviews and maintain up-to-date taxability matrices for our companies.
  • Extend your impact by reviewing other business tax filings, such as property tax returns and annual business reports.
  • Work closely with the Sales Tax Manager on various projects and tax audits, contributing to the success of the team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of multistate sales tax experience, with at least 1 year of experience reviewing returns.
  • Experience working in a company with a high volume of returns (200+ returns per month) and with multiple filing entities preferred.
  • Experience working with Vertex O and Vertex Returns and/or Onesource preferred.
  • SAP and/or Oracle knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Ability to balance working in multiple systems and maintain tax registrations across those systems.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
