Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking an Underwriter to join our client in Philadelphia, PA for a hybrid opportunity! As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing various ratings, analyzing cases, and employing various underwriting risk assessment techniques tailored to the specific customer. This Contract-to-Hire opportunity offers $27.97-$39.86/Hour!

Prepare and review various ratings, analyze cases, and employ underwriting risk assessment techniques tailored to specific customers.

Utilize supporting documentation for analysis and make recommendations internally to underwriting management and/or sales based on established authority levels.

Assist junior underwriters in meeting department needs and developing their skills.

Attend customer and broker dialogues to enhance consultative skills and contribute to informed decision-making.

Possess a solid working knowledge of Health Care Reform, risk assessment, marketplace conditions, competitive landscape, and relevant business acumen.

Work closely with the sales team to advise on compliance with underwriting requirements and customer risk characteristics.

May be tasked with underwriting medical, pharmacy, and/or ancillary lines of business.
Requirements/Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a group insurance environment and 2+ years of experience working in an underwriting environment (concurrent experience accepted).

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; MBA preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of insurance concepts, underwriting, rating techniques, and basic risk evaluation.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes.

Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to recognize, research, and resolve discrepancies.

Proficiency across all competencies as defined in the Underwriting Competency Model.

Detail-oriented, skilled in problem-solving, mathematics, and algebraic concepts.

Solid interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Access, Word, and Excel) and internal underwriting support systems.
