Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Grant Accountant to join our client in Camden, NJ for a hybrid opportunity! The Grant Accountant, reporting directly to the Controller/CFO, plays a crucial role in the post-award administration of grants for multiple Principal Investigators (PIs). The primary focus of this position is to ensure compliance with sponsor terms and conditions, as well as institutional policies and procedures. The Grant Accountant will actively engage in post-award management, demonstrating hands-on experience and familiarity with the various aspects of grant administration. This Direct-Hire opportunity is offering an annual salary of $75,000-$90,000!
 

Responsibilities:
  • Review grant-related documents, including applications, Notice of Award, Contracts, and Agreements, to identify award terms and conditions.
  • Apply any specified restrictions or budgetary controls based on the terms and conditions.
  • Gather internal documentation to ensure compliance before the setup of grant accounts.
  • Collaborate with PIs to appropriately allocate personnel to the project in line with award terms.
  • Monitor payroll transactions to ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and institutional policy.
  • Monitor committed effort versus awarded effort, ensuring compliance with sponsor salary limitations.
  • Review financial transactions for adherence to GAAP, FASB, and Uniform Guidance.
  • Ensure accounts payable expenditures align with grant requirements and agency policies.
  • Coordinate the removal or transfer of unallowable costs.
  • Provide monthly grant status reports to PIs, including spending projections.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all required financial and subrecipient reports (e.g., FFATA, FFR, RPPR).
  • Participate in the subrecipient monitoring process.
  • Review and approve subaward invoices, communicate spending concerns with the Research Office, and ensure timely receipt of final subaward invoices.
  • Confirm remaining balances for progress reports and provide final balances for carryover requests.
  • Ensure timely closeout of grants and contracts in accordance with sponsor requirements.
  • Monitor grants receivable and follow up on unpaid billings.
  • Support the annual agency financial audit.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in NIH grant accounting and post-award management.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIH grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts requirements and regulations, as well as federal requirements such as Uniform Guidance.
  • Proficiency in Excel with a high level of attention to detail, efficiency, and organization.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
