Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client for a hybrid opportunity in Camden, NJ! The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various financial tasks related to grant accounting and post-award management, ensuring adherence to grant requirements and agency policies. This Direct-Hire opportunity offers $75,000-$90,000/year!

Responsibilities:
  • Review application, Notice of Award, Contracts, and Agreements for award terms and conditions, and apply any restrictions or budgetary controls.
  • Gather all internal documentation to ensure compliance prior to account setup.
  • Ensure personnel are appropriately allocated to the project, in conjunction with the PI, and according to the terms of the award.
  • Monitor payroll transactions to ensure salary costs and cost share expenses are appropriately applied according to sponsor guidelines and institutional policy.
  • Monitor committed effort versus awarded effort and compliance with sponsor salary limitations, when applicable.
  • Ensure accounts payable expenditures meet compliance with grant requirements and agency policies.
  • Review financial transactions to ensure adherence to GAAP, FASB, Uniform Guidance.
  • Coordinate the removal and/or transfer of unallowable costs.
  • Provide monthly invoices and status reports to PIs that include spending projections.
  • Timely and accurate submission of all required financial and subrecipient reports (e.g., FFATA, FFR, RPPR).
  • Participate in the subrecipient monitoring process: review and approve subaward invoices, communicate any spending concerns with the Research Office, and ensure timely receipt of final subaward invoice.
  • Confirm remaining balance for progress reports; provide final balance for carryover requests; ensure timely closeout of grants and contracts in accordance with sponsor requirements.
  • Monitor receivables and follow up on unpaid invoices.
  • Support annual agency financial audit.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • High level of proficiency in Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, efficient, organized, and deadline-focused.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Federal (NIH/NSF/DOD) grant accounting/post-award management.
  • Knowledge of NIH/NSF/DOD grant, cooperative agreement, and contract requirements and regulations along with federal requirements such as Uniform Guidance.
