Job Title: Controller

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to join our client in Kennett Square, PA on a temporary-to-hire basis. This role is critical to overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls while optimizing processes and ensuring compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and a proactive approach to supporting strategic business goals.

Compensation:
  • $60 - $75/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities of the Controller:
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and publish financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
  • Streamline and standardize accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to provide insights that drive decision-making and business performance.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of productivity and professional growth.
  • Oversee tax filings and regulatory reporting to maintain compliance.
  • Support system enhancements and automation initiatives for improved efficiency.
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures for key accounting functions.

Qualifications and Skills for the Controller:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • Experience: 5–8 years in a Controller role, preferably in manufacturing or agricultural industries.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and familiarity with automation technologies is a plus.
