Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Legal Administrative Assistant to support the Housing Unit at a legal services organization in Jacksonville, FL. This temporary-to-hire role focuses on assisting individuals facing eviction by conducting eligibility screenings, coordinating rental assistance referrals, and providing administrative support to attorneys. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Compensation:
$18.00 - $19.50/hour, based on experience and qualifications.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
Hybrid schedule will begin after successful training (approximately one month, but may be sooner based on progress). Required in-office days and some mandatory in-person meetings may occur. Some work may need to be completed on-site or at a partner agency.
Key Responsibilities of the Legal Administrative Assistant:
Conduct client intake, screen potential clients, and collect necessary information.
Maintain knowledge of legal and social service agencies for appropriate client referrals.
Act as a liaison between attorneys and external legal or social service organizations.
Assist attorneys with case preparation, document organization, and file maintenance.
Enter and manage data in the case management system.
Track case progress, maintain case databases, and ensure compliance with deadlines.
Assist in organizing legal workshops and outreach events related to housing rights and tenant protections.
Provide administrative support for grant management, including tracking applications, data entry, and reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Skills for the Legal Administrative Assistant:
Associate degree or equivalent education/experience.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
Ability to adapt and learn new processes and technologies.
Proficiency in email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
