Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Human Resources Director to join our client and play a vital role in supporting their growing operations. This onsite, permanent/direct-hire position, based in Philadelphia, PA, focuses on overseeing all facets of human resources across multiple business units, including employee relations, payroll oversight, talent acquisition, compliance, and training & development.
Compensation:
$75,000 – $90,000/year (based on experience)
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Director:
Lead and manage HR operations for approximately 380 employees across two business entities, including a smaller unionized workforce.
Oversee full-cycle talent acquisition, collaborating with staffing vendors and supporting hiring needs for new property openings.
Handle all employee relations matters, including workplace investigations, discrimination claims, and workers’ compensation cases.
Manage payroll operations for both weekly and bi-weekly cycles, including reporting and compliance.
Supervise and support two direct reports: a Payroll Administrator and a Benefits Administrator.
Assist in rolling out a newly updated employee handbook and ensure continued compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Support HR operations in multiple East Coast states, with attention to jurisdiction-specific laws (e.g., MA & CT).
Oversee training and development programs, including compliance and safety training (e.g., Fair Housing, OSHA certifications).
Qualifications and Skills for the Human Resources Director:
7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or director-level role.
HR certification(s) such as SHRM or PHR are a plus but not required.
Experience working with union environments is a plus but not required.
Familiarity with ERISA regulations (especially in non-safe harbor environments) is strongly preferred.
Industry experience is flexible—open to candidates from various sectors outside of property management.
