Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal to join our client and play a vital role in supporting their legal operations. This hybrid, permanent/direct-hire position based in New York, NY, focuses on supporting a busy litigation team with case management, discovery, trial preparation, and legal research responsibilities.
Compensation:
- $70,000 – $80,000 annually (based on experience)
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, 7-hour workdays with flexible start/end times
- Hybrid schedule: 3-4 days onsite; shifting to 4 days onsite in the fall
Key Responsibilities of the Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal:
- Manage case files and meet all court-imposed deadlines
- Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
- Summarize and analyze medical records and other case documents
- Coordinate depositions, medical examinations, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with attorneys, clients, experts, and opposing counsel
- Conduct legal research, including Lexis
- Accurately track and enter daily billable time
Qualifications and Skills for the Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal:
- 3–5 years of experience in insurance defense litigation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with New York litigation procedures
- Knowledge of billing procedures and time entry requirements
- Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an ABA-approved organization or a bachelor’s degree required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented with a proactive and organized approach
