Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal to join our client and play a vital role in supporting their legal operations. This hybrid, permanent/direct-hire position, based in New York, NY, focuses on managing litigation support from case inception through resolution, including document analysis, medical record review, trial preparation, and deadline management.
Compensation:
- $70,000 – $80,000/year, based on experience
Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 7-hour workdays with flexible start/end times
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite weekly, moving to 4 days onsite in the fall
Key Responsibilities of the Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal:
- Support attorneys with all phases of insurance defense litigation
- Review, analyze, and summarize medical records and legal documents
- Prepare case materials for hearings, depositions, and trials
- Conduct legal research using Lexis or similar tools
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, experts, and court personnel
- Ensure accurate and timely daily time entry for billing purposes
- Manage case deadlines and maintain detailed records
- Assist with trial preparation and provide support during proceedings
Qualifications and Skills for the Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal:
- 3–5 years of experience in New York defense litigation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing cases independently and meeting strict deadlines
- Familiarity with New York legal procedures and court systems
- Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program or a Bachelor's degree required
- Experience using Lexis and billing software preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
