Job Title: Operations Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Operations Manager to join our client and play a vital role in supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. This onsite, permanent/direct-hire position based in Exton, PA, focuses on leading sterile compounding, production planning, quality system adherence, and overall operational performance within a 503B pharmaceutical facility.
Compensation:
- Approximately $160,000/year (commensurate with experience)
Work Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, standard business hours
- Flexibility required to stay later depending on operational needs
Key Responsibilities of the Operations Manager:
- Oversee daily operations across manufacturing, quality control, logistics, and supply chain functions
- Ensure compliance with FDA, DEA, USP <797>/<800>, and cGMP regulations
- Implement and improve SOPs, KPIs, and operational workflows to drive efficiency and cost reduction
- Lead and mentor a team of supervisors, technicians, and support staff
- Manage production schedules and inventory to meet delivery timelines and minimize waste
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments such as QA, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Sales
- Support internal and external audits, including FDA and DEA inspections
- Oversee vendor and contract manufacturer relationships to ensure performance and quality standards
- Report operational performance metrics to senior leadership and lead continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Skills for the Operations Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Active pharmacist license (PharmD or RPh) in good standing
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing or compounding
- At least 2 years in an operational leadership role
- Strong knowledge of FDA 503B guidance, DEA regulations, cGMP, and USP <797>/<800>
- Hands-on experience with cleanroom operations and aseptic technique
- Proficiency in ERP/MES systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and strategic leadership skills
