Job Title: Sr. Payroll Auditor
 

Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Payroll Auditor to join our client’s team in a key role focused on conducting compliance audits for multiemployer payroll plans. This onsite, direct-hire position is based in Marlton, NJ, with regular travel (approximately 25%) to client sites within the tri-state area. The Sr. Payroll Auditor will be responsible for independently evaluating payroll records, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
 

Compensation:

  • $75,000–$95,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
 

Work Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, full-time
  • Flexible start time between 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM
  • 100% onsite unless traveling to a client site (local travel only; mileage, tolls, and other expenses are reimbursed)
  • No office attendance required on days with client visits
 

Key Responsibilities of the Sr. Payroll Auditor:

  • Conduct payroll audits to ensure compliance with multiemployer plan requirements
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data, including systemic and clerical errors
  • Analyze payroll records, benefits reports, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Prepare and deliver detailed audit reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to internal audit staff
  • Collaborate with clients to confirm audit appointments, request records, and discuss findings
  • Lead audit engagements when assigned, overseeing objectives and timelines
  • Provide status updates and escalate issues to management as needed
 

Qualifications and Skills for the Sr. Payroll Auditor:

  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll auditing, preferably involving multiemployer or Taft-Hartley plans
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred (related majors considered with relevant experience)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including use of formulas, text/date functions, lookups)
  • Strong understanding of collective bargaining agreements and plan document provisions
  • Ability to work independently and handle complex audits with minimal oversight
  • CPA certification is a plus but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel
