Job Title: Payment Processor
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Processor to join our client and ensure accurate and timely handling of mortgage payments. This onsite, temporary position based in Marlton, NJ, focuses on posting, reconciling, and processing customer payments while supporting compliance with internal policies and minimizing company risk.
Compensation:
• $19/hour
Work Schedule:
• Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Must be willing to work occasional overtime
Key Responsibilities of the Payment Processor:
• Post customer payments and payoffs accurately into the servicing system, either manually or electronically.
• Reconcile posted items, disbursements, and exception reports to maintain accuracy.
• Process checks, mail, and incoming cash management items.
• Contact attorneys, title agents, and borrowers regarding short payoffs.
• Set up and maintain ACH accounts.
• Handle posting reversals (NSF, corrections, etc.).
• Perform scanning of mortgage payments into servicing systems and bank platforms.
• Conduct research, root cause analysis, and remediation to resolve payment discrepancies.
• Document processes and maintain compliance with company policies and deadlines.
• Support data entry, reporting, and decision-making related to payment applications.
Qualifications and Skills for the Payment Processor:
• High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical certificate or degree preferred.
• 1–4 years of related work experience, preferably in banking or mortgage.
• Data entry skills with a focus on speed and accuracy.
• Strong mathematical and reconciliation abilities.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including data manipulation.
• Experience with banking or mortgage servicing software a plus (e.g., Sagent, LoanServ).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
