Job Title: Payment Processor
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Payment Processor to join our client to support accurate and efficient posting of customer payments within a high-volume financial environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring funds are properly applied, reconciled, and documented to maintain data integrity and minimize financial risk. The ideal candidate will bring strong attention to detail, a background in banking or financial operations, and a commitment to maintaining compliance and accuracy in all payment activities. This is a contract position based in Fishers, IN, working onsite, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional overtime as needed.
Compensation:
$19/hour
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional overtime required)
Key Responsibilities of the Payment Processor:
• Accurately post customer payments, payoffs, and ACH transactions to the servicing system while performing daily reconciliations to ensure accuracy and reduce financial discrepancies.
• Handle physical check processing, mail distribution, and document scanning to maintain a consistent and organized payment flow.
• Research, resolve, and remediate exceptions, reversals, and discrepancies through detailed analysis and problem-solving.
• Coordinate with internal teams, attorneys, title agents, and borrowers to resolve short payoffs or pending items efficiently.
• Maintain detailed transaction records, ensure compliance with internal controls, and contribute to root-cause analysis to strengthen process accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills for the Payment Processor:
• High school diploma or GED required; additional education or certifications in finance, accounting, or business is a plus.
• 1–4 years of experience in payment processing, banking operations, or financial data entry preferred.
• Hands-on experience with check processing and ability to identify components of a physical check.
• Proficiency in data entry and intermediate Excel skills, including the ability to manipulate and reconcile data.
• Familiarity with mortgage payments or loan servicing systems (such as Sagent or LoanServ) highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed, fact-based decisions within defined authority levels.
