Job Title: Collections Specialist

Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Collections Specialist to join our client to support timely recovery efforts and maintain healthy account performance. In this role, you’ll work directly with customers to identify the root cause of delinquencies, negotiate solutions, and keep accounts on track with established protocols. You’ll play a key part in minimizing risk by using informed judgment, clear communication, and strong attention to detail. This position operates in a fast-paced environment where you’ll collaborate across departments to resolve issues and ensure a positive customer experience.

Compensation:
$20–$22/hr

Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Hybrid | 4–5 days onsite in Wilmington, DE

Key Responsibilities of the Collections Specialist:

Develop informed action plans to resolve delinquencies
• Assess assigned accounts, determine the path to resolution, and escalate complex cases appropriately to leadership.

Engage borrowers to negotiate repayment strategies
• Conduct thorough fact-finding, discuss past-due balances, build repayment options, and issue follow-up communication such as system-generated collection notices.

Monitor portfolio performance and maintain goals
• Track delinquency metrics, identify risk changes, and promptly alert management to emerging issues or at-risk accounts.

Deliver strong customer service and cross-functional support
• Provide clear, empathetic communication while collaborating with internal teams to resolve inquiries and maintain positive customer relationships in a changing environment.

Qualifications and Skills for the Collections Specialist:

• Prior experience in collections (minimum one year), particularly with early-stage delinquent accounts.
• Familiarity with loan documentation, delinquency protocols, skip-tracing tools, and collection platforms.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and teamwork abilities with a customer-focused mindset.
• Understanding of applicable collection laws, regulations, and internal compliance requirements.
• High school diploma required; some college coursework or related training is preferred.
