Job Title: Grant Accountant
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a
Grant Accountant to join our client and support the financial stewardship of sponsored research awards. In this role, you will manage post?award accounting activities, ensuring funds are monitored accurately, spending aligns with sponsor rules, and reporting deadlines are met. The position plays a key part in guiding investigators through complex compliance requirements and maintaining strong internal controls. This hybrid role offers a chance to contribute to meaningful research initiatives while ensuring financial integrity across multiple awards.
Compensation:
$75,000 – $90,000/year
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Grant Accountant:
- Oversee the full post?award lifecycle, including account setup, reviewing sponsor terms, applying budgetary controls, and maintaining compliance with institutional policies.
- Track personnel allocations, payroll costs, effort commitments, and salary limitations to ensure alignment with sponsor and federal guidelines.
- Monitor transactions and expenditures for allowability, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP, FASB, and Uniform Guidance; coordinate adjustments for unallowable costs.
- Prepare and deliver monthly financial updates, projected spending reports, subrecipient monitoring reviews, and required sponsor submissions such as FFRs, RPPRs, and FFATA reports.
- Support grant closeouts, follow up on outstanding receivables, participate in audits, and assist pre?award partners with budget development.
Qualifications and Skills for the Grant Accountant:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast?paced environment.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with complex financial data.
- Experience with post?award grant administration—particularly NIH or DoD funding—is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with federal regulations, cooperative agreements, cost principles, and Uniform Guidance is a strong plus.
