Job Title: Payroll Manager
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Payroll Manager to join our client to lead accurate payroll operations and ensure compliant, high quality service across a multi-state employee population. In this role, you will guide end-to-end payroll processing, strengthen systems and data integrity, and partner closely with HR, Accounting, and leadership teams. This position plays a key part in optimizing payroll workflows, supporting business initiatives, and delivering an exceptional experience for employees. This is a direct-hire, onsite opportunity based in Cherry Hill, NJ, with the option to work 1–2 days remotely after training.
Compensation:
$100,000 – $105,000/year
Work Schedule:
Monday–Friday, standard business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Manager:
Oversee full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of wages, bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, and all related payments.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by monitoring tax requirements, managing garnishments, and leading year-end activities such as W?2 production and reconciliation.
Enhance payroll data integrity by managing HRIS and timekeeping records, performing advanced reconciliations, and generating detailed reporting for finance, accounting, and audit needs.
Lead payroll technology initiatives, including system enhancements, testing, integrations, and workflow improvements that support scalability and efficiency.
Supervise and mentor payroll staff while serving as the primary escalation point for complex issues, partnering cross-functionally to resolve discrepancies and support employee inquiries.
Qualifications and Skills for the Payroll Manager:
10–15 years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Extensive knowledge of multi-state payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance standards, including FLSA.
Advanced proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and strong Excel capabilities (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Strong communication, analytical, and confidentiality skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently; CPP certification highly preferred.
