Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our client to support core financial operations and strengthen accurate, compliant accounting practices. In this role, you will contribute to maintaining a reliable general ledger, assisting with grant related reporting, and ensuring timely month end and year end processes. You will collaborate closely with leadership and the finance team to streamline reporting, enhance controls, and keep financial data organized and audit ready. This position is onsite in Jacksonville, Florida and is a contract to hire opportunity.
Compensation:
$30.00 to $35.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Key Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
• Support core accounting functions by maintaining the general ledger, strengthening internal controls, and ensuring adherence to accounting standards
• Assist with financial reporting for funded programs, including data preparation for grant applications and compliance submissions
• Deliver routine and ad hoc reporting, investigate variances, and contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
• Prepare and review journal entries, coordinate audit requests, and contribute to budgeting and insurance renewal processes
• Serve as a backup for payroll, cash receipts, revenue recognition, and accounts payable duties
Qualifications and Skills for the Staff Accountant:
• A degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is preferred, and advanced education or CPA pursuit is beneficial
• Approximately five years of accounting experience, ideally within non profit or public accounting environments
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities, with a proven record of managing sensitive information
• Experience supporting grant compliance and reporting along with proficiency in accounting software and database management
• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with MIP Sage or similar systems are valuable
