Job Title: Plant Cost Accountant
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Plant Cost Accountant to join our client to support accurate financial decision making and operational performance within a manufacturing environment. This direct hire role partners closely with plant leadership to guide cost control, inventory accuracy, and financial reporting. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement based in Jackson, Michigan, with regular onsite presence to stay connected to production activity. The ideal candidate brings strong plant accounting expertise and a hands on approach to understanding manufacturing processes.
Compensation:
$120,000 to $130,000 per year plus annual bonus
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities of the Plant Cost Accountant:
• Partner with the Plant Manager and leadership team to deliver financial insight that supports operational and strategic decisions
• Oversee plant level cost accounting activities including inventory controls, capital tracking, and payroll review
• Manage month end close activities by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and performance analysis within established timelines
• Analyze labor efficiency, production variances, and spending trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities
• Maintain a regular presence on the plant floor and support interactions with internal stakeholders and visiting partners
Qualifications and Skills for the Plant Cost Accountant:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Demonstrated experience in manufacturing or plant cost accounting within a continuous production environment
• Proven ability to perform month end close, reconciliations, and detailed operational analysis
• Experience working with ERP systems, with SAP strongly preferred, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence leaders and work effectively across teams
