Job Title: Bankruptcy Legal Assistant
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Bankruptcy Legal Assistant to join our client to support attorneys with the preparation, management, and execution of bankruptcy matters. This role plays a key part in ensuring cases move forward efficiently while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with court requirements. The position is based in Tampa, Florida and requires a fully onsite presence. This is a permanent direct hire opportunity designed for a detail oriented legal professional who thrives in a collaborative office environment.
Compensation:
$23 to $35 per hour
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, normal business hours, 37.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities of the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant:
• Prepare, review, and organize bankruptcy petitions, schedules, declarations, and related court filings with a high level of accuracy
• Manage electronic filing processes and documentation in accordance with federal and Florida state court procedures
• Track case activity, deadlines, and milestones while keeping attorneys informed of status updates and required actions
• Coordinate hearings, meetings, and client appointments while supporting attorneys with case preparation efforts
• Maintain orderly electronic and physical case files and communicate professionally with clients, courts, trustees, and opposing counsel
Qualifications and Skills for the Bankruptcy Legal Assistant:
• At least two years of experience supporting attorneys in a commercial litigation environment, with bankruptcy exposure strongly valued
• Working knowledge of bankruptcy court practices, including ECF filing systems, PACER, and creditor communications
• Familiarity with federal and Florida state court rules and legal filing standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills combined with discretion, initiative, and attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with experience using a legal document management system preferred
