Key Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Events:

  • Own and evolve an end-to-end event marketing strategy that supports pipeline growth, customer acquisition, and market awareness across a diverse event portfolio (corporate, national, regional, local, and experiential).
  • Design integrated event programs and go-to-market plans, including audience targeting and segmentation, to ensure event efforts align to commercial priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish success metrics and ROI frameworks (e.g., lead quality, conversion, influenced revenue, attendance value), delivering executive-ready reporting and actionable insights.
  • Lead event operations from planning through post-event analysis, ensuring consistent brand standards, exceptional attendee experiences, and rapid issue resolution when risks arise.
  • Manage budgets, vendor partnerships, and contract negotiations while optimizing spend, resource allocation, and long-term program scalability.
  • Direct and develop the events marketing function (internal team members, agencies, contractors, and vendors) by building clear ownership models, communication cadences, and high-performance team practices.

Qualifications and Skills for the Associate Director of Events:

  • A degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience is equally valued.
  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in event or field marketing, with a track record of delivering large-scale programs tied to pipeline and revenue impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead national conferences, regional events, experiential activations, and integrated multi-channel campaigns with strong attention to detail and brand consistency.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen, including experience setting KPIs, evaluating performance, and translating data into strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership capability managing teams and external partners (agencies/vendors), with confidence influencing cross-functional stakeholders and presenting to executives.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to prioritize multiple high-visibility initiatives in fast-paced environments while driving clarity and accountability.
  • Experience in regulated, complex, or mission-driven industries (e.g., healthcare, diagnostics, medtech, biotech, or life sciences) is a plus.
