Job Title: Intellectual Property Paralegal
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking an Intellectual Property Paralegal to join our client to support the management and protection of valuable intellectual property assets. This direct-hire opportunity is based in Tampa, FL and offers the chance to work closely with legal professionals on patent, trademark, and business transaction matters. The ideal candidate will help keep critical filings, deadlines, and documentation organized while contributing to a fast-paced legal environment. Compensation:
$25 - $40/hour
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, normal business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Intellectual Property Paralegal:
- Coordinate patent and trademark prosecution activities, including preparing and submitting filings, correspondence, and supporting documentation for domestic and international matters.
- Oversee intellectual property docketing functions by tracking deadlines, maintaining records, and providing attorneys with timely reporting and status updates.
- Prepare, review, and manage IP-related documents such as assignments, disclosures, prior art references, maintenance filings, and other submission materials.
- Assist legal teams during corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and technology licensing matters that involve intellectual property assets.
- Serve as a point of contact for attorneys, clients, government agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders while ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Help maintain organized case files, documentation systems, and workflow processes to support efficient legal operations.
Qualifications and Skills for the Intellectual Property Paralegal:
- 3-5 years of experience supporting intellectual property matters, including patent administration, trademark prosecution, docket management, or related legal operations.
- Exposure to merger and acquisition activities, licensing agreements, or other business transactions involving intellectual property is preferred.
- Working knowledge of court procedures, filing requirements, litigation deadlines, and electronic filing platforms, including experience with PACER or similar systems.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and legal software platforms such as Relativity, Xera, iManage, or comparable tools.
- Associate’s degree required; a bachelor’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred. Equivalent legal industry experience combined with relevant education will also be considered.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, maintain exceptional attention to detail, and follow through on time-sensitive assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proactive, client-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with colleagues in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment.
