Job Title: LOA Specialist
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a LOA Specialist to join our client in a role that supports key business operations and contributes to important organizational initiatives. Based in Washington, DC, this Hybrid, Temp to hire opportunity will help employees navigate leave requests while supporting consistent administration across multiple jurisdictions. The specialist will combine regulatory knowledge, careful case management, and compassionate service to guide employees through complex or sensitive circumstances. This role offers meaningful collaboration with employees and business partners while contributing to compliant practices and dependable daily operations.
Compensation:
$30.00 to $40.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, normal business hours, with 2 days Onsite weekly
Key Responsibilities of the LOA Specialist:
- Oversee a substantial portfolio of employee leave requests from initial inquiry through resolution, maintaining accurate documentation and timely follow through.
- Guide employees through available leave options, required actions, and key decisions with empathy, discretion, and clarity.
- Ensure leave practices align with FMLA requirements and applicable regulations across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Coordinate directly with employees in varied employment arrangements and personal circumstances to provide responsive, individualized support.
- Maintain organized reports and shared records using Excel tools to monitor case activity, review submitted information, and support operational accuracy.
Qualifications and Skills for the LOA Specialist:
- 3 to 5 or more years of comprehensive internal leave administration experience, including direct ownership of cases rather than work performed primarily through an external provider.
- Demonstrated ability to manage approximately 40 to 50 active leave matters while meeting documentation, communication, and compliance expectations.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA and leave regulations across multiple states, with familiarity in California, New York, and Washington, DC preferred.
- Practical Excel skills, including applying filters, retrieving survey details from shared resources, and maintaining individual tracking reports.
- Excellent employee service and relationship management abilities, with the confidence to explain difficult information while balancing regulatory obligations with compassionate support.
