Job Title: Strategic Buyer
Job Overview:
Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Strategic Buyer to join our client in a role that supports key business operations and contributes to important organizational initiatives. This contract opportunity is based in Telford, PA and offers an Onsite work arrangement, providing hands on involvement in purchasing, supplier strategy, capital investment, and manufacturing operations. The Strategic Buyer will collaborate with business leaders, finance partners, suppliers, and purchasing professionals to strengthen sourcing decisions, manage supplier performance, and support critical investment needs. This position is well suited for an experienced manufacturing purchasing professional who brings strong negotiation skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced setting.
Compensation:
$35–$40/hour
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, normal business hours
Key Responsibilities of the Strategic Buyer:

• Oversee procurement activities across capital equipment, maintenance and operational supplies, indirect purchasing, and other strategic sourcing needs, from initial requirements through purchase execution.
• Guide competitive sourcing efforts by gathering business requirements, preparing bid requests, evaluating supplier options, and facilitating negotiations involving commercial terms, payment arrangements, deliverables, and performance expectations.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to align priorities, purchasing timelines, project requirements, financial considerations, and potential supply risks.
• Analyze supplier and category performance using purchasing data and performance measures, developing scorecards and improvement actions that strengthen quality, service, cost, and supplier accountability.
• Ensure purchasing activities follow established sourcing and contracting practices while supporting invoice issue resolution, capital orders, time sensitive investment projects, and guidance for buyers handling indirect purchasing.

Qualifications and Skills for the Strategic Buyer:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
• Three to five years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to manage sourcing activities beyond routine transactional buying.
• Experience working with material planning or enterprise resource planning applications, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools used for purchasing analysis, communication, and documentation.
• Strong negotiation, communication, relationship building, and teamwork capabilities, with the confidence to work effectively across functions and engage suppliers on complex commercial matters.
• Preferred experience sourcing capital equipment and maintenance or operational supplies, along with supplier management expertise and the ability to coach or guide buyers responsible for indirect purchasing.
